My family and I are pretty big fans of baked salmon for dinner, but this Baked Mahi Mahi Fish Tacos recipe is a fun way to mix it up! It’s full of flavor, balanced with a next-level cream sauce and delicious whole wheat tortillas. - Smoked paprika (regular paprika works great, too, but smoked paprika really makes it next level!)

- Onion powder

Fish Taco Cream Sauce
The cream sauce is so easy to make! Simply whisk these ingredients together:
- Plain yogurt – greek or whole milk yogurt are both great options.
- Chili powder
- Smoked paprika
- Salt
- Lime juice
- Water
The Whole Wheat Tortillas
This recipe works with pretty much any type of tortillas. Flour, whole wheat flour, low-carb, yellow corn, or white corn are all delicious options!

There are so many ways to top white fish tacos! Here are some of the best toppings for mahi-mahi tacos:
- Shredded cabbage
- Shredded red cabbage
- Avocado (sliced)
- Crushed red pepper
- Cream sauce
Other ideas include: sour cream, hot sauce, cayenne pepper, mangoes (or mango salsa), and lime wedges!
How to Make Mahi Mahi Tacos
Here’s how to make mahi-mahi tacos baked in the oven:
1. Bake the Mahi Mahi
The first step is to bake the mahi-mahi fillets with lime juice and seasoning. Make sure to place the fillets skin-side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or cast iron skillet!
2. Mix the Cream Sauce
While the fish is baking, mix the cream sauce together.
3. Heat the Tortillas
Heat up the flour tortillas (or corn tortillas) on the stove top over medium-high heat (this is my favorite method) or in the microwave.
4. Layer the Fish Tacos
Top each tortilla with baked mahi-mahi, toppings, and the cream sauce!

This recipe can be made in about 30 minutes, so it’s already a pretty quick dinner recipe. However, there are a few ways to save even more time! Here’s how:
- Make sure to thaw the mahi-mahi fillets the night before in the refrigerator (if frozen).
- Use a pre-made fish taco cream sauce instead of making your own.
- Preheat your oven while you’re prepping ingredients.
- Use pre-chopped cabbage and other prepared toppings!
How to Store Baked Mahi Mahi Tacos
The best way to store Baked Mahi Mahi Tacos is to keep the cooked mahi-mahi in an airtight container. Store the tortillas, toppings, and cream sauce in their own containers as well. When you’re ready to serve, heat up the tortillas and fish, then add your fresh toppings and sauce!
Baked mahi-mahi can last about 3-4 days in the refrigerator.

Baked Mahi Mahi Tacos
Ingredients
Baked Mahi Mahi
- 1 pound mahi-mahi (2-3 fillets)
- 1 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1/2 medium lime, juiced
Cream Sauce
- 1/4 cup plain yogurt
- 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 Tablespoons water
- 1/2 medium lime, juiced
Mahi Mahi Tacos
- 8 medium whole wheat tortillas
- 1 cup shredded cabbage
- 1 cup shredded red cabbage
- 1 cup cilantro leaves
- 1 medium avocado, sliced
- 2 teaspoons crushed red pepper (optional)
Instructions
Baking The Mahi Mahi
- Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F.
- Mix the mahi-mahi seasoning (chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper) together in a small bowl.
- Place the mahi-mahi fillets skin side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Squeeze the half lime juice over each mahi-mahi fillet.
- Sprinkle the mixed seasoning over each fillet.
- Bake for 17-20 minutes, or until the fillets are flaky and fully cooked.
- Remove the fillets from the skin and cut into small, even pieces.
Mixing The Cream Sauce
- While the fish is baking, whisk together the yogurt, chili powder, smoked paprika, salt, water, and the lime juice of the remaining halved lime.
- Set aside.
Making Mahi Mahi Tacos
- Heat the tortillas up on the stovetop (recommended) or in the microwave.
- Top each tortilla with cabbage, red cabbage, baked mahi-mahi, cilantro, sliced avocado, and crushed red pepper (optional).
- Drizzle each taco with the cream sauce.
- Serve and enjoy!
