Juicy sliced apples covered with vanilla yogurt mixture, dipped into a chocolate shell, and topped with peanuts and flaky salt. These Chocolate Covered Apples (aka viral apple "donuts") are the BEST healthy snack or treat!
Slice both of the apples and cut out the core where necessary.
Mix the yogurt, protein powder, and peanut butter (optional) together.
Dip each apple into the yogurt mixture, coating evenly, and set on the baking sheet with parchment paper.
Freeze for 45 minutes to 1 hour.
Melt the chocolate chips and coconut oil together in the microwave, stirring every 30 seconds until smooth.
Dip each apple slice in the chocolate, coating evenly, then place back onto the baking sheet.
Quickly add chopped peanuts and flaky salt to each "donut" before it dries (they dry quickly since they are cold).
Freeze for another 1-2 hours, then enjoy!

Notes
Don't feel like making the apple "donut" shape? Feel free to cut the apples into wedges or thin slices, instead!
An apple corer would have been wonderful! But I didn't have one, so I just sliced through the apple vertically and then cut out the core on the slices that needed it.
You can peel the apples if you want, but I kept the skin on for this recipe.
Add any toppings you want - chopped nuts, sprinkles, caramel drizzle, mini marshmallows, fresh strawberries, and more!
If you choose to only partially dip the apples in chocolate, it's best to soak the slices in lemon juice first.
