Equipment

Ingredients

Orange Sesame Sauce

  • zest of 1 orange approx. 1 Tablespoon
  • juice of 1 orange approx. 1/4 cup
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1 1/2 Tablespoons minced garlic
  • 2 Tablespoons toasted sesame oil
  • 2 Tablespoons tomato paste
  • 3 Tablespoons tamari sauce or soy sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 Tablespoon toasted sesame seeds
  • 1 Tablespoon cornstarch

Turkey & Veggies

  • 1 Tablespoon avocado oil
  • 1 1/2 pounds ground turkey
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups fresh broccoli chopped
  • 1 medium red bell pepper diced
  • 2 cups red cabbage chopped

Radish Slaw

  • 4-6 medium red radishes sliced
  • 1 Tablespoon white vinegar
  • 1 Tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper

Bowls

  • 2 cups cooked brown rice
  • 1 large avocado sliced or diced
  • 1 medium orange skin removed and sliced or chopped
  • 2 scallions thinly sliced
  • toasted sesame seeds

Instructions

  • Whisk the orange sesame sauce ingredients together in a bowl, set aside.
  • Heat up a large skillet over medium-high heat with the oil. Add the ground turkey and salt. Break up the turkey and cook for 6-8 minutes until mostly cooked through, mixing often.
  • Add the broccoli, peppers and cabbage and cook for 5 minutes.
  • Add the sauce (make sure you give the sauce a quick whisk before) and cook for another 2-3 minutes, mixing often, until the sauce has thickened.
  • Mix the radish slaw ingredients together in a bowl. Set aside.
  • Build each bowl with warm cooked rice, turkey & veggies, radish slaw, avocado slices, orange slices, scallions, and toasted sesame seeds.
  • Drizzle with the remaining sauce from the bottom of the pan. Enjoy!

How to Toast Sesame Seeds
  1. Heat a medium skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the sesame seeds and cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring often, until lightly golden and fragrant
  3. Immediately, turn off the heat and transfer the sesame seeds to a plate to cool.
