5-Minute Daily Decluttering Routine
Before you get started, make sure that everything actually has a place. If there are items that don’t have a dedicated place in your home, it is more likely that they will get left where they are and continue to add clutter to your home. To TRULY declutter your home, create a place for every single item (or consider getting rid of the items that don’t), don’t forget that Handy will connect you with a top-rated home cleaning professionals.
Step 1: Set a timer.
Set your timer for 5 minutes to get the job done!
Step 2: Start with the main living areas, such as the living room, dining room, and kitchen.
Start with the areas that you spend the most time in! Remember that you’re doing this for yourself and for your peace of mind. So if you spend the most time in the back of the house (that nobody sees), it’s ok for you to start there!
Step 3: Don’t think about things for too long or get lazy.
Decide that it THIS very moment, you’re going to put EVERY sing thing away. Not a few things. Everything. Even if it belongs in the very back of that annoying cabinet that’s hard to get to. It’s worth the mental space and peace of mind you will feel when your home is clutter-free!
Step 4: Make it a race.
5 minutes isn’t a very long time! So clean up the clutter as quickly as you can.
Step 5: Have grace on yourself.
You may or may not completely declutter your home in 5 minutes, so be sure to have grace on yourself and embrace the journey to a simple, healthy home!
