Friends, let me just start by saying this: I am SO ready to move into this house. We’ve been in this process for over a year now, and I am beyond ready. I love our new house so far, and I will always love Edna The House (our current home). But I’m ready for that closing date!!
Unfortunately we’re still too far out to actually know when that is. There have been so many delays due to these crazy times we’re living in, so it’s tough to know how many more delays there may be in getting materials and other things. In some ways I don’t mind because it puts us in a better place to sell our current home in the spring (instead of winter), but I’m just so ready to be in the house.

To be honest, building a home has been quite a bit more overwhelming than I realized it would be. So many people warned me about that, but I love getting to design and pick out everything for my home, so I thought I would thrive in it a bit more. And don’t get me wrong – I do love it, and there was a season where it was all fun! But now….now I’m ready to be done. 🙂
The Latest House Update
I think we’re getting there! The house is pretty much fully framed, the roof is on, and we have a fireplace. The windows and doors are in (which I am OBSESSED with), electrical and plumbing are also in. Little by little, things are getting into place. We’ve also finalized many of our interior finishes and are in the process of ordering things.
One thing we’re trying to figure out is the kitchen backsplash. The big question right now is do we go with tile, or a marble porcelain slab? The slab is beautiful, but may be more than we’re wanting to spend. So many tough decisions!
In the meantime, I’ve heard that we’re about to add sheet rock and start brick, so that’s super exciting. Hopefully my next update will have tons of exciting things (and maybe even be one of the last ones before the finale)!
