Today I’m sharing all about our little guy’s nap time routines, what our sleep schedule looks like, and how we’re using our new Panasonic Monitor to make nap time routines go smoothly!
P.S: Baby sleep is different for everyone and you should always consult your doctor to figure out what works best for you and your baby. This is just our story and what worked for us! 😉
If I’ve learned anything over the past 6 months of having a baby, it’s that just when you think you’ve got it figured out, EVERYTHING changes. Ya know??
Once our little Atlas hit 3 months, his sleep majorly changed. We started the process of establishing a bedtime routine, actually having a bedtime, and helping him sleep longer stretches at night. By around 4 or 4.5 months, he was sleeping in his crib and sleeping very long stretches with maybe only 1 feeding in the middle of the night!
But nap time? That was a different story. At the time I remember feeling like I couldn’t figure out nap times. He would sleep anywhere randomly at any time – the swing, the crib, the sling (that was the BEST), and the cradle. Every nap was different and typically only lasted about 20 minutes. It wasn’t until I read somewhere that a great way to establish nap times is to go off of awake time that things really changed for us!

Establishing Nap Time Routines
Thankfully, we were able to quickly get on track with naps. Now, from the time he wakes up in the morning, he stays awake for about 1.5 hours and then goes down for a nap. We put our little guy in his sleep sack, rock him for about 2-5 minutes, and then lay him in his crib. We turn on the white noise feature on his Panasonic monitor (which is the best EVER), close the blinds, sing a song, kiss him and leave the room. He goes right to sleep and sleeps for about 45 minutes to 1 hour!
When it comes to nap times (and bedtime, for that matter), the last thing we need to worry about is our monitor being an issue. We are currently loving our new Panasonic Baby Monitor because it can pan/tilt/zoom, has 2-way talk, alerts you when baby moves or cries, and (as mentioned above) has an amazing white noise feature!
I’m especially excited about the white noise feature because it means that we no longer need a white noise machine AND a monitor. Love that they are combined! I’m also loving it has a lullaby feature that will allow the monitor to automatically play a lullaby whenever the baby cries! Not to mention the long-range audio/video (especially great in our house, since the nursery is on the other side of the house) and the long battery life (up to 13 hours, Y’all!). Battery life was a big issue with our previous monitor, so this has been a lifesaver!
We’re so grateful that Atlas’ nap times are getting better and more consistent every day and that we now have a monitor that helps our routines go smoothly. Here’s to happy sleeping!
