Baby #2 Coming In August!

The secret is out: we’re expecting our second baby this August and could not be more excited!

AHHH! That’s about how I’m feeling right now. Joy, excitement, nervousness, ALL THE FEELS. Oh and did I mention nausea? I’m definitely feeling that as well. Here comes baby #2!

I’m currently about 13 weeks pregnant and this little one is due at the end of this summer in August. We’ve been trying to teach Atlas, who is now a little over 18 months, how to say “Baby” and show him that baby is in Mommy’s tummy, but I don’t think he’s quite getting it yet. That’s ok! He will soon. 🙂

Pregnancy Update: First Trimester

The first trimester has been a whirlwind! Dealing with terrible nausea and sickness has not been fun, but I’m grateful for a healthy pregnancy. If you’ve been wondering why you haven’t seen many new recipes here on JOL, it’s because I haven’t been able to cook hardly at all! There’s been a lot of picking stuff up on my way home and doing my best to nurture my body, but also just kind of surviving as well.

Thankfully, this article that I wrote in the first trimester of my last pregnancy about what to eat in the first trimester was actually immensely helpful! It’s funny how you forget things from pregnancy to pregnancy. It was interesting to see what helped my during my the first trimester of my last pregnancy vs. this one! And I’m also really looking forward to getting back into healthy eating and working out again in the second trimester.

Prepping for baby #2

To be honest, the thought of making the jump from 1 kiddo to 2 is a little bit overwhelming. Two carseats? Two cribs/beds? Mommas of 2 or more, I’d love to know your thoughts on how to transition your life (and your stuff)!

Either way, we’re starting to think about everything we’re going to need to do to prepare for a second baby. For starters, we have to figure out how these two will eventually share a bedroom! A baby and a toddler sharing a room….seems crazy right? But you do what you have to do. I’ll definitely keep you posted on that!

It also means figuring out carseats, finding a double stroller, and so many other things. It feels like I have a ton of time to figure this stuff out, but I know that the pregnancy will go by so quickly now that I’m starting to feel a little bit better!
