Ladies, we’ve all been there. A full day of crazy busy work and you still have to make dinner…the last thing you want to try to squeeze in is a workout! Sometimes finding time to exercise (when you have no time) can be pretty difficult, and more often than not, we choose to opt out instead (beeeeeeeen there 🙋🏻)! Today, I’m sharing 7 of my go-to’s when it comes to finding time to exercise and actually making it happen, I have been trying to stick to a routine for the last two months now, ever since I got the best cross training shoes for flat feet I feel much more comfortable working out, now there is no valid excuses for me.
1.) Make A Plan
If you’re a busy girl, taking the time to make a workout plan is CRUCIAL! Follow or create a plan (like the 4-Week Bleacher Workout Challenge plan) that fits YOUR schedule. Be realistic in planning! If you know you only have 30 minutes, only plan 30 minute workouts. I love using a journal like FitBook to help me plan my workouts and healthy eats!
2.) Find Efficient Workouts
Finding time to exercise is all about working with the time that you do have. Find workouts that are efficient: an intense workout in less time! This includes exercises that workout multiple body parts in one move. Sometimes efficient workouts can combine cardio and strength training as well! Not sure where to start? 3.) Squeeze In Mini Workouts
Sometimes you have 30 minutes, sometimes you have 10 minutes. Yes, you CAN get a workout in 10 minutes! Some workout is better than no workout, friends. This Mini Back-To-School Total-Body Workout can be done in as little as 7 minutes!
4.) Make It A Part Of Your Social Life
Double up by socializing while working out! Do a workout video with your roommate, go for a run with a friend and use the time to catch up, invite a friend to the gym with you. It’s a great way to knock out two birds with one stone!
5.) Add In Exercise Throughout Your Day
This one might take a little getting used to, but if you really don’t have time, this is a great way to stay in shape. Park far away from the door, take the stairs instead of the elevator, take stair-run breaks at work, do calf raises while waiting for your lunch to microwave. There are lots of ways to turn everyday tasks into mini workouts! If you’re looking for more ideas, here are 7 Everyday Tasks You Can Turn Into A Workout!
6.) Join A Class
Joining a workout class is a great way to stay accountable. Lunch time group workouts are great for those with limited time to workout! Even if you have to leave a little early to get back to work, this method is great when you’re finding time to exercise!
7.) Treat It Like It’s Your Job!
Sometimes when we have limited time to workout, we get discouraged and give up on exercise all together. Learning to prioritize is SO important in this case! Treat your workouts like their your job. Tell yourself that it’s not optional, and make sure to plan ahead so that you really do the workout! This might even mean placing it on your calendar like you would a meeting. When you treat working out like it’s your job, then it won’t be as easy to skip workouts!
