The number one question I get asked lately is “how’s the house??”. Not that I mind, but it’s been a year and a half of this project, and for a long time it seemed there wasn’t much progress on it or much of an answer that I could give to that question. I was honestly starting to wonder if it would EVER be done. But good news: as of this week, we finally have a closing date and I’m excited to share what will hopefully be the final house update before moving in!
Here’s a refresher on the progress so far:

1. Walls & Trim
Drywall is up, trim is in, and we’ve picked out our final paint colors and stains.
2. Brick
As of this week, the house is finally fully bricked! This step seemed to take forever, but I’m glad we are finally finishing it up.
3. Doors + Attic Door
The doors have been in for a while, but our attic door was a WHOLE THING. We had a place for an attic door in the garage ceiling, but the ceiling there was too high to access it (due to a crazy situation with the grade of our land). SO. We opted for the next best option, which is a door at the top of the stairs landing in the entryway.
Not ideal, since the door has to float about 14 inches from the landing due to the mudroom underneath it. But thankfully, trim built us an awesome covering for the door where we can hang a canvas over it! So excited to basically have a hidden door, haha.
4. Tile
One of my faves: the tile! Tile has been installed in all of the bathrooms and in the utility room.
5. What’s Left?
Next up, we are waiting for our wood flooring, the stairs need to be finished (balusters and rail, along with wood steps), then paint, countertops, porcelain backsplash, fixtures, and appliances. And then all of the little things. It’s crazy to think that all of that will be done in a month and a half, but hopefully, it’ll move quickly!
Be sure to follow along over on Instagram for more updates in my stories, and I’ll be sure to post a full update and tour when it’s finished!
