I swear I can feel a little bit of crisp fall feels in the air right now! In Oklahoma, sadly fall doesn’t REALLY get here until around October, so September is usually of mix of getting our hopes up for cooler weather and then being disappointed when it’s still 90 degrees, haha. BUT – I live for those crisp mornings where you can feel it and smell it and you know that it’s coming. Fall is almost here!
Regardless, I go into full autumn mode after labor day and am beyond excited for all the fall recipes, decor, and vibes. Last year around this time we had just moved into our house and I was drowning in new construction house things, so I didn’t really decorate much. This year, I’m SO pumped to go all out on decorating my front porch and home!
Here’s what’s going on in the month of September:
Apple Recipes to Make This Fall
1. Apple Cinnamon Overnight Oats
These overnight night oats with apples, cinnamon, and maple syrup continue to be one of my most popular recipes in September!
2. Healthy Apple Crisp Recipe
I’m obsessed with this healthy dessert for a sweet treat in the fall. So yummy!
3. Chocolate Covered Apples
Just because it’s fall doesn’t mean we can’t still enjoy our chocolatey frozen treats! These apples are covered in yogurt, peanut butter, and chocolate, then topped with peanuts and a sprinkle of flaky salt. They’re the best healthy frozen snack!
4. Fall Breakfast Quinoa Bowl
This hearty breakfast quinoa bowl is full of comforting fall flavors, and I’m completely here for it!
5. Pomegranate Pecan Salad w/ Cinnamon Apples
Apples in a salad? Oh yes. The flavors in this sweet salad are crispy and delicious! Top it all off with your favorite cheese (I think goat cheese would be excellent) and a drizzle of balsamic vinaigrette to bring it all together.
6. Apple Cinnamon Peanut Butter Breakfast Toast
It’s so simple, yet so delicious. Peanut butter and cinnamon apples on toast with a drizzle of honey or maple syrup and topped with pecans and/or pumpkin seeds. It’s so good!
Fall Decor That I’m Excited About
Can we talk about how a year ago I had a few fake pumpkins lying around and Ollie took a BITE out of one?? Yeah. He had just turned 2 years old, so surely, surely that won’t happen again this year now that he’s 3. Either way, I think I’ll go with real ones this time. But if you choose to go with faux pumpkins, here are a few of my fave along with beautiful fall decor I’m currently loving!
Life Lately
With that fall air starting to come in, it’s taking me right back to this time last year, and to be honest, there’s some trauma there from how sick I was. I had just found out that I was pregnant and as fall was coming in, the smell of pumpkin spice or anything fall related was such a struggle, haha. Basically from now until Christmas, I was completely down and out.
Fast forward to today, I’m so very grateful for our healthy baby girl, but I’m also SO grateful not to be sick anymore! Pregnancy was rough for me every single time. Every time I feel that fresh crisp fall air it triggers that trauma for me (it’s so real) and I’m having to ease myself back into fall smells and flavors, reminding my mind that it’s going to be ok and I’m not going to get sick. Trauma is so weird and so real, isn’t it? I’m not sure if anyone has been through something similar, but if you’re in the thick of pregnancy sickness, I just want to say that I see you and want you to know it WILL get better!

Also, Atlas started kindergarten this fall. We are still trying to figure out how to do this whole school thing, and now that my work day ends a little earlier, I’m trying to learn how to balance work/family once again. That is something I’m always working on, but it seems like something I’m really focused on lately!
Anyway, I’m very excited to actually enjoy the fall season this year. If there are any specific recipes you guys want to see, be sure to comment below or dm me on Instagram!
