Does a Pumpkin Chai Latte Have Caffeine?
The short answer is yes, but maybe not as much as you think! A grande iced pumpkin cream chai tea latte from Starbucks has 95 mg of caffeine. For comparison, a grande iced coffee from Starbucks has 165 mg of caffeine.
This recipe, however, uses a bag of chai tea, which has around 45 mg of caffeine. You can also use a caffeine-free chai tea if desired!

What You’ll Need
Creamy Oat Milk – The creamier, the better! You can also use regular milk, too. The only other plant-based milks that I would use in this latte is creamy cashew milk or soy milk, since they froth well.
Chai Tea – I love these chai tea bags for lattes, but chai tea concentrate is a great alternative. I used 1 bag, but feel free to steep 2 bags for a stronger flavor!
Pumpkin Puree – This organic pumpkin puree is one of my favorites, but homemade pumpkin puree works perfectly as well.
Pumpkin Spice – The flavors of pumpkin spice with chai spices are truly the best! However, you can tone down the spice by just using cinnamon or omit it completely.
Maple Syrup – Sweeten to taste!
Whipped Cream – Optional, but sooooo good. Coconut whipped cream is great for a dairy-free option!
How to Make a Pumpkin Chai Latte
It is so incredibly easy to make this Pumpkin Chai Latte recipe! Here’s how to put it together in 5 simple steps:
- Heat the oat milk on the stove top, in the microwave, or in a frother.
- Add in 1 bag of chai tea and cover, letting it steep for about 5 minutes.
- Remove the tea bag and add in pumpkin puree, pumpkin spice, and maple syrup.
- Use an electric milk frother or handheld milk frother (or a whisk) to mix everything together.
- Top with whipped cream and extra pumpkin spice. Enjoy!

There are some of my favorite milk frothers for making lattes at home!
You can also heat up milk and use a good ‘ol fashioned whisk!
Other Methods/Variations
The best way to make a Pumpkin Chai Latte is on the stovetop. However, many of us (myself included) don’t have the time or patience to go that route, which is why I created this recipe to be completely made in the mug! This recipe can also be made entirely in a milk frother.
Lastly, you can also use chai tea concentrate instead of steeping the tea in the milk. I love this method for when I’m in a rush!
