Strawberry Overnight Oats w/ Cream Topping
After my Strawberry Cheesecake Overnight Oats were such a hit, I knew I needed more strawberry oats recipes in my life! Especially this time of year, when it’s warmer and I’m craving an effortless, cold breakfast. These Strawberries & Cream Overnight Oats are one of those recipes I’ve made so many times, I could probably do it in my sleep—and honestly, it might be the reason I’ve survived busy weekday mornings as a mom of three lately. They’re creamy, sweet, super easy to make ahead, and perfect for a quick and healthy breakfast! Having breakfast ready to go in the fridge is always such a win.
What are Overnight Oats?
Overnight oats are rolled oats that get mixed with milk (and usually something creamy like yogurt), then they soak in the fridge overnight. While they sit, the oats soften and thicken, kind of like a no-cook oatmeal pudding. It’s one of my favorite ways to get a healthy breakfast ready ahead of time, especially on busy mornings with three kids when I need something quick that still feels satisfying!
The best part is you can prep them in just a few minutes, store them in jars, and wake up to a breakfast that’s already done. We love overnight oats around here!
Why You’ll Love This Strawberry Overnight Oats Recipe
- 5 Minutes – Just mix, add the topping, and store in the fridge overnight.
- 22 g Protein – Thanks to Greek yogurt, chia seeds, and almond butter. No protein powder required!
- Meal-Prep Friendly – Make it the night before for a grab-and-go breakfast, or prep several batches and store them for the week ahead.
- Creamy & Sweet – There’s nothing, and I mean nothing like that strawberries and cream flavor. It’s just so good!

Strawberry Overnight Oats Recipe Ingredients
- Rolled Oats – The base of the recipe! Go with rolled oats (not steel-cut or instant) for the best texture.
- Chia Seeds – These little seeds help thicken the oats and add healthy fats + fiber.
- Almond Butter – Adds richness and creaminess. Peanut butter or cashew butter work too!
- Milk or Almond Milk – Use what you love or have on hand. Both dairy and plant-based options are great here.
- Maple Syrup – Natural sweetness! Honey or agave syrup are easy substitutes.
- Vanilla Greek Yogurt – Adds protein and that creamy, tangy base. You can also use plain Greek yogurt with a splash of vanilla and extra sweetener or a diary-free coconut yogurt instead!
- Strawberries – Fresh or frozen (and thawed) both work great. Frozen strawberries are best if you’re meal prepping this recipe!
- White Chocolate Chips + Coconut Oil + Yogurt – For that sweet cream topping. Normally I try to make toppings optional, but this one is required because it’s just SO worth it!
How to Make Strawberries & Cream Overnight Oats
I love how easy these breakfast oats are to make! All you’ll need are Overnight Oats Jars, a few ingredients, and 5 minutes. Here’s how to make the best Strawberry Overnight Oats:
- Mix the Oats – In jars or containers, combine oats, chia seeds, almond butter, milk, maple syrup, and yogurt.
- Add the Strawberries – Slice and mix the strawberries into each jar.
- Make the Cream Topping – Melt white chocolate chips and coconut oil in the microwave, then whisk in yogurt until smooth.
- Top & Chill – Spoon the cream over the oats, seal with lids, and refrigerate overnight.
Optional Tip: Thaw frozen strawberries and mash them into a jammy swirl to mix into the topping. It’s SO good!

How to Make Strawberries and Cream Oatmeal Ahead of Time
These stay fresh for up to 4 days, so feel free to prep a few jars for the week ahead!
Strawberry Overnight Oats Recipe Variations
- Mix It Up – Try blending the strawberries into the milk before adding (like I did in these Triple Berry Overnight Oats) for a strawberry milk flavor throughout.
- Cream Topping Shortcut – If you’re short on time, skip the white chocolate and just use vanilla Greek yogurt as a topping.
- No Yogurt? – Use coconut cream or thick coconut yogurt for a dairy-free option and still get that delicious creamy vibe.

Serving Suggestions for Strawberry Overnight Oats
- Add extra sliced strawberries on top
- Sprinkle on granola for crunch
- Add a handful of mini chocolate chips (especially if you skip the cream topping)
- Top with shredded coconut or chopped almonds
- Add a drizzle of almond butter or a little extra maple syrup
- Serve with a hard-boiled egg on the side for an easy protein boost
- Pair with a smoothie if you want a bigger breakfast
How to Meal Prep and Store Strawberry Overnight Oats
To meal prep a big batch of these overnight oats for the week ahead, I like to mix the overnight oats base in a large mixing bowl and divide it into jars. Make the same batch portion of the cream topping and add it on top of the oats, then cover with airtight lids. Store these oats in jars with lids or airtight containers for up to 4 days!

Overnight Oats with Strawberries FAQs
Yes. Even though overnight oats are usually eaten cold, you can warm them up if you prefer. Just heat the oats (not the white chocolate cream topping) in the microwave in 20 to 30 second bursts, stirring in between, until they’re warmed through. If they get too thick, add a splash of milk and stir.
If you want to keep that creamy topping, I like to warm the oats first and then spoon the topping on after.
They can be. Oats are naturally gluten-free, but they are often processed in facilities that also handle wheat. If you need these to be truly gluten-free, make sure you buy certified gluten-free rolled oats. Everything else in this recipe is naturally gluten-free, but it’s always smart to double check labels if you’re sensitive.

Hi there! I’ve been eyeing your overnight oats (for years actually!) and am at a point in my late 30s where I need to add more protein in my morning routine so I’m adding your recipes to my rotation. I am adding overnight oat jars to my Amazon cart and curious if you use 8oz or 16oz jars typically. Thanks so much! I’m so excited to try these and the cookie dough ones!
JOL Team replied:
I’m so glad you’re adding these to your morning breakfast routine! The jars I used in this post are actually a 14oz jar and they have a lid to them. Here’s the link for them! for you.
Sarah Myers says:
Made these last night! Tweaked it a little by using oat milk and a strawberry yogurt, and added a smidge of vanilla extract 🙂
Were very tasty this morning! Great flavours and nicely filling. Would highly recommend this recipe!
Jesse says:
I think your calories are slightly out on this.
Half cup of oats alone is 220cal, not mentioning honey and yogurt
Was pretty good though!

Christine McMichael replied:
Glad you enjoyed the recipe, Jesse! Sorry about the calories not matching up. My calorie counter shows 150 cal for a half cup of oats (as does the rolled oats packaging). I know that different calorie counters have different amounts sometimes! Also there are 2 servings here, not 1. Please let me know if you have questions!

Kristen says:
Hey! I’m new to overnight oats! Quick question: in the photos, the yogurt and oats seem to be assembled in layers, but in the recipe, it calls for combining them all at once. Can you help clarify? It looks delicious, by the way!
Christine McMichael replied:
Hi, Kristen! I did add yogurt between layers of the overnight oats for added thickness and creaminess. However, the original recipe should be combined all at once! Once you’ve created the recipe, feel free to add more yogurt or milk to adjust the thickness 🙂 Enjoy!
kali says:
