What Cookware is Non Toxic?
When it comes to finding the best non-toxic cookware, it can be a bit overwhelming. With so many options and ways to go about it, it can be tough to figure out what’s best for you and your home. If you’re ready to toss out your toxic pots and pans and swap them out for healthier options, then this post is for you!
I recently realized that over the years I had accumulated a large collection of toxic non-stick pots and pans that were, if I’m being honest, a bit of a disaster. After a ton of searching, I’ve narrowed my collection down to the following:
- A great non-toxic non-stick cookware set
- A large stainless steel sauté pan
- A cast iron skillet
To be honest, I could have stopped at the healthy non-stick cookware set, but I do love my large stainless steel pan for when I’m cooking for a large group of people. And keeping a cast iron skillet on hand is a must for frying and baking!

Non Stick Non Toxic Pans
Let’s just get right into it! Having a good-quality non-stick pan is essential for daily life. Here I’m reviewing my favorite options for this:
Caraway Cookware – 4/5 Stars
PRO: This brand is absolutely beautiful. I love how all of their cookware looks and stores so perfectly! I’ve used these pans for YEARS and would say they do a pretty good job of cooking things evenly.
CON: The downside to these pans is that I don’t feel like they are TRULY non-stick. They start out decently non-stick, but with more wear and tear, it seems like the outer coating sort of wears off. Mine look terrible after years of cooking on them, and I’ve never been able to truly get the burn marks off. I now mostly use these when I’m making a meal where I will deglaze the pan with some sort of liquid, or I use a lot of oil to keep things from sticking. You almost have to baby them!
Overall Thoughts: Even though these pans are a bit annoying to clean and they aren’t truly non-stick, non-stick cookware can often be a big source of toxic chemicals in our food. So while these aren’t perfect by any means, choosing a healthy non-stick cookware set is essential for safe cooking! And I would say I still use these pans almost every day for cooking, despite the burn marks and some sticking.

All-Clad Stainless Steel Non-Stick Pans – 4/5 Stars
PRO: When it comes to TRUE non-stick, All-Clad Non-Stick Pans are perfection. They cook beautifully and evenly! And they truly keep things from sticking, so you can make eggs and pancakes without fear.
CON: While these are amazing for cooking, they do have a typical non-stick coating that isn’t necessarily non-toxic. However, one thing I try to do is replace my non-stick pans fairly often so the coating doesn’t start to get in my food!
Overall Thoughts: I would keep at least one of these pans on hand for things like eggs, pancakes, and other sticky/low-fat foods, and then keep a non-toxic non-stick pan for other types of cooking.
Is Stainless Steel Non Toxic?
Stainless steel is great for healthy cooking because it doesn’t react with food and is durable. It also cooks evenly! I’m recommending All-Clad Stainless Steel Pans here because they are hands-down the best.
The only down side with stainless steel is that it isn’t non-stick, which means that a generous amount of oil or liquid is required. If you’re wanting to refrain from adding too many fats to your food, then going with healthy non-stick pots and pans may be a better option.
Cast Iron
Cast iron is unique in that it’s great for browning meats, frying, and baking! It distributes heat well and gives food a unique and delicious taste. It’s non-toxic, actually adds flavor and iron to your food (bonus points), and cooks beautifully. You can also take it from the stovetop to the oven! My hands-down favorite for this category will always be Lodge Cast Iron.
While cast iron is great for certain recipes, like these Creamy Healthy Chicken Enchilada Skillet and Skillet Sweet Potato Hash with Kale recipes, I’ve found that I don’t use it as often since it’s a bit harder to clean and heavier to move around. However, I have friends who use their cast-iron skillet every single day and it’s a great idea to keep a good cast iron skillet on hand for certain meals!


Dutch Oven Non Toxic Cookware
I’m shouting this from the rooftops: you NEED a good dutch oven! Here are my two favorite non-toxic non-stick dutch ovens:
Lodge Dutch Oven – 5/5 Stars
I have cooked everything, and I mean EVERYTHING in this exact dutch oven. And I even have the oyster color, and it has held up so beautifully for so many years! I’ve made curries, chilis, baked bread, so many things. I could not recommend it more. I am completely sold on this non-toxic dutch oven for life.
Le Creuset Dutch Oven – 5/5 Stars
Of course there’s the Le Creuset Dutch Oven, which is not only excellent in how it cooks, it’s non-toxic non-stick features, and how beautiful it is to display. However, there is one major downside in my opinion, and that is the price tag! But if you can afford it, then I definitely think it’s gorgeous and a dream to own.

What is the Best Affordable Non Toxic Cookware
If you’re looking for the best non-toxic non-stick cookware to create a healthier home and upgrade your pots and pans, then I actually recommend purchasing a mix of these! While many cookware companies want you to own a matching set, and they ARE beautiful when they all match, it’s important to think about what’s best for the type of food you cook and your family.
For me as a busy mom of 3 and someone who values balance and healthy eating, I keep my kitchen stocked with:
- A non-toxic large saute pan
- A non-stick frying pan
- My wonderful Dutch oven (lives on my stove)
- A large stainless steel pan
- Cast-iron skillet (small and large size)
I think if you’re able to build this collection, you will be set for living a healthier lifestyle and ready to make delicious recipes for you and your family!
