What is Dulce De Leche?
If you’ve never had Dulce De Leche, it’s the BEST! Growing up in a hispanic home, I basically put this stuff on everything. It’s so delicious.
Dulce De Leche translates to “candy from milk” in Spanish and it’s a thick, sweet, perfectly sticky sauce with a caramel-like tetxure. The difference between dulce de leche vs. caramel is the base! Dulce de leche is made with milk, while caramel is typically made with a water base. While the two are similar, the flavors are a bit different. However, you can substitute thick caramel sauce for dulce de leche in this recipe!

Chia Seed Parfait Vs Traditional Parfait
A traditional French parfait is a cold dessert consisting of whipped cream, eggs and sugar. This chia seed parfait is a healthy version using chia seeds and almond milk to create a creamy, thick texture without any excess sugar or cream. If you’re wanting a healthy pudding dessert, then this chia seed pudding is the best!
When chia seeds are added to liquid they develop a thick jelly-like outside coating making them a great option for making and thickening desserts, smoothies or breakfasts and they give this parfait the perfect consistency!

How to Make Chia Seed Parfait in 3 Easy Steps

- Drizzle the Dulce De Leche: Warm the dulce de leche, then layer it with the chia pudding, dividing it into 4 jars or parfait glasses.

Tips for Making Chia Seed Parfaits
- Adjust Consistency: If your chia pudding feels too thick, just add a splash more almond milk to thin it out. If it’s too thin, let it sit for a bit longer or add a bit more chia seeds.
- Customize Toppings: While I LOVE the combo of dulce de leche, pecans, and banana, feel free to mix it up! Try fresh berries, coconut flakes, or even a swirl of nut butter.
- Chill Time: For the best texture, let your parfaits chill for at least an hour. But honestly, overnight is even better! This gives the chia seeds more time to absorb the liquid and get that pudding-like consistency.
- Not a Fan of the Texture? I love the pudding-like consistency, but adding some crunchy ingredients like granola and chopped nuts can help balance it and make it even more tasty!

Meal Prepping Chia Seed Parfaits
These Dulce De Leche Chia Seed Parfaits are so perfect for meal prep the night before! Just blend the pudding, layer it with dulce de leche, and store the jars in the fridge. You can add the toppings right away or keep them on the side to stay extra fresh. Add extra milk to them in the morning if the pudding is too thick. They’ll last up to 3 days, making them perfect for grab-and-go breakfasts or snacks throughout the week!
How to Store
Store chia seed parfaits in airtight jars or containers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
TIP: Avoid freezing these parfaits since it can change the texture of the chia pudding quite a bit. Just pop them in the fridge and enjoy throughout the week!
