This recipe only requires a few simple ingredients! Here’s what you’ll need:
- Apples – Gala apples work great in this recipe!
- Rolled Oats – Old-fashioned rolled oats are best for apple crisp recipes.
- Oat Flour – One of the healthy swaps in this apple crisp is oat flour instead of regular! You can purchase pre-made oat flour (which I highly recommend), or you can make your own by blending oats into a flour-like texture.
- Sliced Almonds – Almonds, walnuts, or pecans are all great options.
- Coconut Oil – I love using coconut oil in healthy fall desserts, but regular or vegan butter works great, too!

- Cinnamon + Vanilla – A dash of cinnamon and vanilla brings the perfect amount of fall flavors to this apple crisp recipe.

Honeycrisp or Gala apples are perfect for apple crisp or apple crumble recipes, since they have a “crisp” texture. However, other types of apples work great, too!
How to Slice Apples for Apple Crisp?
Thin apple slices typically work best apple crisp recipes! You can also cut the apple slices into small cubes, if desired.
TIP: Use this apple slicer, then cut the slices in half to quickly make thin apple slices for this healthy apple crisp recipe!
How to Store Healthy Apple Crisp
Apple crisp can be stored in it’s baking dish, covered, for about 1-2 days in the refrigerator. To store, let it cool completely. Add a cover or place in an airtight container and keep it in the refrigerator for later!
If you’re making the apple crisp in advance, use Glad Press n’ Seal to store it covered in the fridge if you plan on reheating it later that day. This keeps it fresh and delicious! These containers are also perfect for if you are storing the crisp for several days.
How to Reheat
To reheat the apple crisp, simply pop it back into the oven for about 7-10 minutes (or until everything is warm). You can also reheat it in the microwave, but the oven definitely produces better results (since the microwave can make it a bit soggy)!
