To start things off, I want to hear from my fellow donut addicts out there. Are you out there? Please say hi! I can’t even when it comes to donuts. My sweet grandpa (also known as Abuelito) introduced me to donuts when I was around the age of 5.
I distinctly remember sitting at the dining room table taste testing them and washing them down with Dr. Pepper (which we were also taste testing). Soon after, my addiction grew into an uncontrollable problem! You think I’m kidding, but I could easily eat an entire box in one sitting.
I can’t decide if these Healthy Donuts with Peanut Butter and Chocolate are breakfast or dessert!
Think sweet, melt-in-your-mouth, warm, chocolatey disastrous donut heaven. I’m not even mad about it! They’re actually a variation of the Blueberry Bread recipe, with peanut butter replacing the almond butter and (cough cough) chocolate chips (cough cough) replacing the blueberries.
Ok but I don’t even feel bad because these chocolate chips are deliciously healthy! Also, you will need some sort of donut baking pan for these.
What Makes these Donuts Healthy
You can turn regular sugar-laden donuts into guilt-free healthy treats by making a few simple and easy changes and adaptations!
- Bake the donuts instead of frying them. This gets rid of all the unnecessary saturated fat and oil.
- Replace refined sugars with healthy natural ingredients such as dates.
- Add fiber to keep you full and satisfied.
- Add an extra boost of vitamins and antioxidants in the form of nuts or seeds.
What You Need to Make these Healthy Donuts
- Rolled oats – I used oats instead of flour for added fiber
- Peanut butter – Because peanut butter goes perfectly with chocolate
- Flax seeds & Chia seeds – For an added health boost
- Baking powder – This helps the donuts rise in the oven
- Eggs – Helps bind everything together
- Vanilla & chocolate chips – Chocolate can be healthy too!
- Dates – To naturally sweeten the donuts
Top Tips for Making Healthy Donuts with Peanut Butter and Chocolate
- Make sure you have a donut pan to make baked donuts
- Let the donuts cool on a cooling rack after baking
- You can drizzle over some melted chocolate for an extra chocolate hit
- You can store the donuts in an airtight container for around 3-5 days
- These donuts can also be frozen
If you’re having an extreme chocolate craving (like I was when I made these), you can add a little bit of Tahini-Chocolate (from the Tahini-Chocolate Dipped Watermelon Wedges) on top as an optional icing!
However, these Peanut Butter Chocolate Blender Donuts do have chocolate chips in them as well. 😉 It’s all about how strong your chocolate hankering is! Let’s get to baking, friends!

Peanut Butter Chocolate Blender Donuts
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1 tsp baking powder
- Pinch of salt
- 1 Tbsp ground flax seed
- 1 Tbsp chia seeds
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 cup creamy peanut butter
- 1 medium banana
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1/4 cup chocolate chips
- 7 dates
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Remove seeds from the dates.
- Combine all ingredients except for the chocolate chips in a blender or food processor. Once the ingredients are blended together, hand mix the chocolate chips into the batter.
- Pour the batter into the donut pan and bake for approximately 25 minutes.
- Serve and enjoy!
