All about Dragon Fruit & Goji Berries
Is Dragon Fruit a Superfood?
Definitely! Dragon fruit is not only super pretty, pink and delicious, but it’s also packed with antioxidants and high in vitamin C, containing 15% of your daily recommended intake. It’s also found to have anti-inflammatory properties and help lower cholesterol.
How to Eat Dried Goji Berries
Dried goji berries can be added as a topping on smoothies or smoothie bowls, as well as added to yogurt bowls, oatmeal, cereal, salads, and grain bowls. Goji berry powder can also be consumed in smoothies and drinks!
Using Fresh Dragon Fruit
If you have fresh dragon fruit (or Pitaya) on hand, remove the flesh and cut the dragon fruit into cubes. For smoothies, it’s best to freeze it first before adding to a smoothie for a thick texture! You can also add it in fresh, but it may give the smoothie a thinner texture.
Dragon Fruit Banana Smoothie Benefits
Dragon fruit smoothies can add tons of nutritional benefits to your everyday meals! For starters, dragon fruit is loaded with vitamins, along with the vitamins and healthy fiber in the berries as well. The banana in the smoothie is full of potassium and wholesome carbs, while the goji berries on top add even more nutrients. Whether you’re choosing to make a smoothie for breakfast, as a snack, or just as a yummy treat, they are definitely a wholesome way to get more nutrients!
Dragon Fruit Smoothie Ingredients
Dragon Fruit (Pitaya) – Frozen dragon fruit is the key ingredient in this smoothie recipe. Whether it’s cubed frozen dragon fruit or dragon fruit smoothie packs, this tropical fruit is delicious! Fresh dragon fruit works great, too.
Frozen Berries – Strawberries or raspberries are my personal favorite to pair with dragon fruit, but any type of frozen berries will work. Blackberries, blueberries, or a mix of all of them!
Banana – Ripe banana brings the smoothie together. It also thickens and and adds sweetness the recipe! Another option is to use frozen bananas if that’s what you have on hand.
Unsweetened Coconut Milk – The coconut milk gives this smoothie a tropical flavor! However, feel free to use almond milk (or any type of milk).
Goji Berries – One of my favorite parts of this smoothie are the goji berries! Whether you’re adding them as a topping or blending them in, they are so delicious and add a ton of nutrition.
